What I liked about the story:
  • It has an unexpected turn of events.
  • You can read the story for hours, but don’t notice it.
  • The  book is written in simple easy manner.
  • It shows the inner world of teenagers, their relationships and their views on life.

What I did not like about the story:
  • There are some contradictions.
  • The main character wasn’t impressed me, her description is vaguely.
  • The beginning of the story is bored, the plot becomes more interesting in the middle of the book.

Provide your own ending

First of all, I’d like to tell you the true ending of the story. This ending was very unexpected for me that the main character died. Samantha Kingston decided to make a sacrifice to herself in order to save Juliet’s life. She saw just one chance to find a way out in this action.
But If I were the author of this book, I would write the story with happy ending. I like reading books which have happy ending, because I always want to believe in something good. Every reader hopes for the victory of good over evil. So am I! That’s why I offer another ending for this book.
During the same sixth day, Sam has understood what she must do to return her to the normal life. When the seventh day comes, she already has a well-thought plan of her action for last day. Samantha confesses to Kent that he is only man with whom she would like to be. Then she spends all day in the company of her three girlfriends and in the evening she goes to the party, where she will have to do good for Juliet. When she meets Juliet at a party, Samantha tries to persuade her not to commit suicide. Juliet agrees with her not to do it and decides to talk to another girls. During talking, the girls realize that they were wrong and cruel in relation to Juliet as well as in relation to other guys and offer Juliet to become their new girlfriend. Of course, Juliet accepts their kind offer.
At midnight Samantha, lying in bed,  is considering all her actions for the whole day and comes to the conclusion that she could do everything according to the plan and falls asleep with confidence in the next new day of her life.

Happy End

Imagine filming the story

Mmm…just imagine!
If I were the film director, I would include a scene from the story in a film. The film would be romantic and about love. It would be called «Explain Love». The scene would consist of two main characters: Samantha Kingston and Kent McFuller. During this scene, Sam and Kent have a dialogue from which we have realized that Kent really loves Samantha and he is ready to do anything for her.
First of all, I should choose certain actors for the film. So, I had two main characters, I would choose Nina Dobrev for woman role
and Daniel Radcliffe for man role. I think that these actors are completely suitable for my film, because Nina Dobrev has the same appearance as Samantha Kingston. She has long dark hair, brown eyes and she’s tall and slender. Daniel Radcliffe has a charisma which attracts the audience. They are mutually complementary. They will be a beautiful couple. Then I would hand out the screen script to every actor and give a few days to look through it. The actors should meet each other in order to find a common language and mutual understanding. The shooting would go quicker thanks to this.
In conclusion, in such way I would organize my process of making film. I believe that I’m not mistaken in my choice of the actors and the film «Explain Love» would win first place in the box-office takings.

Write a letter

Dear Abby,
I’m speaking to you for help. I’m Samantha Kingston from Jefferson High School. I led good, bright and funny for me and I was at all happy with such lifestyle. But suddenly the strange thing happened to me which changed my life.
After the party I and my girlfriends returned home and had an accident. I think I died. But I’ve got an opportunity to relive my last day again. This is the fifth time when I wake up in the same morning. I don’t understand what’s happened to me. I feel awful because of going through the same day many times. I tried to change my treatments to people around me, my behavior, but it didn’t work. So, I learnt to appreciate my family and the moments spending together. I’ve discovered my girlfriends from another side and loved them much more. Unfortunately, this didn’t help to return to my daily life. Should I help somebody to solve their problems? Is Juliet Sykes the chance to put an end to my sorrow?
What is your advice? What is your opinion about this situation? What should I do to set my life? You is my last hope. Thank for your attention and time. I’m looking forward to receiving your letter.
Sincerely,
Katya Sukhorukova.

Read a review

Review
I have no idea how to rate this book. I would say 5 stars to author Lauren Oliver in taking juveniles with a blatant disregard for humanity and turning it into the story of Sam who discovers the importance of humanity. Some of the thoughts that Sam would think as she would pass from one day to the next were beautifully thoughtful causing you to question how you treat and respect the people and things we have. How do we (ourselves) treat individual people? How much affect do we have on the world (people) around us? I think it is a thought provoking book. So I would give the author 5 stars to make us question how we treat others. But all the other parts of the book, in order to get her point across, were rough and depressing to read. I struggled through the majority of the book because of these 4 teenage girls and their behavior to others. There lack of caring was sorrowing for me the reader. The book may have been realistic but it was depressing to read. Thus is the reason for the 1 star rating.
My opinion
I don’t completely agree with the reviewer in one aspect. This review imagined my own thoughts about the book. When you read from one chapter to the next, the story points out those questions which the reviewer touched upon and which you should to ask yourself. You should accept them in all seriousness and give the satisfactory answers for yourself. Then you understand what the main idea the author of the book suggests. The main idea is to appreciate people around you and treat them kindly. It occurs to you  thanks to the relationship of four girlfriends and their treatments to others. May be it makes you sad and depressed to read about these girls, but that’s just real life. The author is a genuine in her depiction of these teenagers. That’s why I don’t completely agree with the reviewer and I think I can rate this book in 5 stars.

Information Gap

What is going to happen next after Samantha had an accident?
I’ll try  to think about the continuation of this book.
I think that  Sam is in coma. Her mind returns to the last day of Sam’s life,Friday. She gets a chance to throw light on her lifestyle.Sam must review her relations with the fellows. For example, she will cease to nickname Juliet Sykes, will confess that she copied Loren Lornet’s answers of chemistry quiz, will help Sarah Grundel not to be late for lesson and will find the true friend,Kent McFuller. She can come back to life with a new view of the future. This is fate which will help Sam to overcome difficulties.
